Perfume Project, 2012-Present                                 A perfume counter salvaged from a department store glows with neatly aligned boxes of handmade, packaged and branded perfumes sitting on pristine glass shelves. A mirrored back amplifies the light within, the strip of beige shag carpet wrapping around the bottom of the heavy case, grounds the display case in time. Each scent offers a unique combination of essential oils, and their inherent visceral properties evoke the six fragrance lines created: Nostalgie, Fear, Failure, Winner, Patriot, Hero, except Narcosis, which is simply a combination of Jim Beam and a Vicodin. The story telling within each fragrance line relies on emotional exaggeration and hyperbolic give and take: a magically realistic look at American society’s preoccupation with consumer goods.

The Fragrance Collection

NOSTALGIE
Nostalgie, a wistful and complex collection of Jasmine, was an instant classic on its debut in 1923. Nostalgie opens with bright euphoric rich notes of Jasmine, balanced by an exotically sweet tar-like pungent tropical Jasmine, quickly met with the bold accords of dark melancholy indolic Jasmine base notes. Legend holds that this fragrance contains scents of diamond dust, heartbreak, camaraderie, Christmas, war, depression and wedding cake amongst its most treasured interpretations. The duality of this fragrance both creates Nostalgie, and satisfies that craving.

NARCOSIS
Inhale the heavy hypnotic base notes of our most popular fragrance. Narcosis has fermented in the buzzing soft electric glow of cable television. Intoxicating undertones of heady, resinous Jamaican cannabis offer a most uniquely dank, skunky bouquet. Anesthetize with the burnt oak and molasses of American bourbon for olfactory inebriation. Savor the bright aluminum metallic top notes that unfold to reveal a potent dose of hydrocodone/acetaminophen enabling a mellow retreat. Escape any time of day or night with this versatile fragrance.

PATRIOT
It’s all about the land. Geography and a strong sense of home are the driving force behind this powerfully simple cologne. Take refuge in Patriot’s base notes of mossy New Jersey pine needle, and vegetal Texas cedar wood. A proud sense of belonging and discrete essence of chewing tobacco run throughout, while Oklahoma tumbleweed and dust impart fundamental grit. Complexity will fall before you, as one waft of Patriot will produce a fresh faced, bright eyed, rosy-cheeked scent you really should want.

HERO
Not for the faint of heart, Hero is strong and ripe with ephemeral base notes of self sacrifice; its distinct bouquet layered with spirited woody floralecent accents of a life lived to the fullest. Subtle fresh pepper spice imparts a highly polished rosiness, exposing courageous middle notes, simultaneously representing salt-of-the-earth and divinity. Bask in this traditional fragrance’s nod to bellicose distinction with upper notes of rich iron. Revel in the moral excellence of ship wreck and maturely panicked cockpit, while domicile base notes of cinnamon bark proudly display a voluptuously spicy homespun character.

FEAR
The smell of fear; captured in a bottle. Fermented in anxiety, this fragrance is contagious, so please wear with caution. We searched far and wide to find the exotic mysteriously trepid Eurasian Pennyroyal mint. Distinct aromas of sweat and dehydration activate the subtle indolic base notes within this scent’s discrete foundation of worry,
panic, and ripe animalic qualities. Fear combines blooming Narcissus and rushing pheromone for its middle notes, with subtle undertones of medicinally treated excrement, bile and urine.

FAILURE
An underrated fragrance, Failure conjures a thin sallow scent of dread and anticipation. White thyme middle notes open an antiseptic odure. Fresh floral upper notes of Bulgarian rose and calla lily give this everyday scent an extraordinary duality, up-lifting
the downtrodden with precious and fleeting vibrancy, while Dalmatian sage, plucked from the Adriatic Coast, disrupts digestion, effecting the nervous system with highly pronounced anxiety. Hopeful redeeming top notes of sheer musk and floral nectar finish and compliment this challenging fragrance.

WINNER
“If you’re not first you’re last”. Yeah, we get it. And now you can, too. Smell like a Winner even if you feel like a loser. This highly coveted vastly sought-after bouquet is sweet with classic citrus base notes of Florida orange and ripe bitter-sweet grapefruit. Subtly reminiscent of past-losses, yet ultimately inducing the mentality and fitting
forward thinking needed for your next potential win. Emblematic bouquet of rose is the timeless essential scent in this sweetly victorious fragrance. With Winner, the world will smell a champion, the world will notice your triumph. Immerse yourself in the win, and you too can be first.

Tagline: Because you’re not a loser
